Amidst the bustling cityscape of Northridge, California, stands Saint Mary and Saint Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Church. Initially located in Panorama City, the church eventually found its permanent home on a five-acre parcel of land in Northridge. A hall, built in 1999, currently serves as the church while the new church building is under construction. The journey of Saint Mary and Saint Athanasius has been guided by several dedicated priests. Hegumen Father Angelos Doss, Hegumen Father Antonious Younan, Hegumen Father Bishoy Bastawros, Father Antony Atalla, and Father David Elias have all served this parish. Archdeacon Zakaria Hanna also continues to serve the community. This church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the dedication and vision of the Coptic community. The recent construction of a 58-unit complex for senior citizens and a preschool for 48 children showcases the church’s commitment to serving the wider community.
