Soon Spanish students joined drawn to the university’s liberal arts curriculum. Within a decade hundreds of students called Saint Louis University-Madrid home. The university’s growth is marked by significant acquisitions. In 1990 Padre Rubio and Padre Arrupe Halls joined the campus. These buildings provided much-needed classrooms offices and labs. In 1996 Saint Louis University-Madrid achieved a milestone. It became the first US institution officially recognized by Madrid’s higher education authority. A further expansion came in 2011 with the acquisition and renovation of San Ignacio Hall. This addition provided a new library cafeteria auditorium and more classrooms. This significantly enhanced the campus’s facilities and student resources.
Today Saint Louis University-Madrid thrives. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees attracting students from over 50 countries. The campus boasts a diverse student body. The language of instruction is primarily English though some courses are offered in Spanish. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1.
