Hidden in the back of Behrman Park sits Saint Julian Eymard Catholic Church. It whispers a story of change and resilience. Saint Julian Eymard Catholic Church was once a vibrant part of the community. It served under the Holy Name of Mary parish. Then the church closed its doors. It remained shuttered for a decade. But the story doesn’t end there. The Holy Name of Mary parish recently sold the Saint Julian Eymard property to the Crescent Leadership Academy. This academy is a public charter school. The sale breathed new life into the old building. The academy has already started renovations. They have repaired the old classrooms, offices, and cafeteria. Their plans include restoring the rectory and the church itself. The proceeds from the sale are going back into the community. They are being used to make repairs to Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. This marks a new chapter for Saint Julian Eymard Catholic Church. It’s a testament to the enduring power of community and adaptation.
