“A beacon of faith since 1906.” That’s how folks often describe Saint Johns Lutheran Church in Montebello. Right here at the corner of North 18th Street and Beverly Boulevard, this tan church, surrounded by trees, has been a spiritual home for generations. Saint Johns Lutheran Church first opened its doors in 1912. The original building cost a mere $500. It was dedicated on February 18, 1912. A simple cross hangs from the south wall. A modern bell tower graces the left side, a testament to the church’s enduring presence in this community. The church itself is a beautiful example of Lutheran architecture. The surrounding trees provide a peaceful setting for reflection and prayer. The large cross on the south wall serves as a powerful symbol of faith.
