Founded for Germans in 1867, Saint Jacobus Evangelical Lutheran Church stands as a testament to community and faith. It began in the Locust Grove area of Long Island. This area evolved into Winfield Junction and is now Woodside.
Saint Jacobus Evangelical Lutheran Church boasts a rich history. It includes not one, but two significant pipe organs. The first organ was acquired in 1916. M.P. Møller agreed to rebuild a second-hand pipe organ for Saint Jacobus Lutheran Church. The agreement was made on March 23, 1916. The organ was to be erected in the church by May 15, 1916 or as soon as possible. The cost was a consideration of $775. The organ was shipped on May 20, 1916. The original builder remains unknown.
The Great Organ featured an Open Diapason. It also featured a Melodia. The Dulciana Treble and Bass added depth. A Gamba and Octave completed the sound. The Swell Organ included a Stopped Diapason. A Violina, Violin, and Oboe offered varied tones. A Salicional provided a delicate touch. The Pedal Organ had a Bourdon. Couplers linked the Swell to Pedal and Great. They also linked the Swell to Great at different octaves. Mechanical features included a Tremulant. A Balanced Swell Pedal and Bellows Signal were also included. An Electric Blower powered the organ.
In 1936, Saint Jacobus Evangelical Lutheran Church acquired another organ. This Artiste model was built by M.P. Møller. It was originally for the Johnson Methodist Church in Philadelphia. Later, St. Thomas Lutheran in The Bronx acquired it. This was to replace their 1924 Møller organ. When St. Thomas Lutheran closed in 2012, Saint Jacobus Lutheran Church acquired this organ.
The Great Organ includes a Diapason Conique. A Quint and Lieblich Gedeckt provide additional tones. A Super Octave and Salicional add to the range. An Octave Conique completes the ensemble. The Swell Organ has a Lieblich Gedeckt and Nazard. A Salicional and Piccolo offer contrasting sounds. A Quintadena and Oboe enhance the texture. A Lieblich Flute adds a delicate touch. Tremolo provides a vibrant effect. The Pedal Organ includes a Bourdon and Quint. A Lieblich Gedeckt and Super Octave are also present. An Octave Conique completes the set.
