“Founded in 2004” may not be the whole story of St. Irenaeus Church. Actually St. Irenaeus Church existed from 1966 to 2004. It now serves as a worship site for Divine Mercy Parish. Let’s explore its story.
St. Irenaeus Church is located at 7200 Grovers Avenue. It provides accessible entrances. Curb cuts and ramps are available. There is also parking near accessible entrances. These features ensure access for everyone.
The church has a wide level approach to the door. The doorway is wider than 32 inches. The door is easily opened with minimum pressure. Usher assistance is also available. Parking spaces are large enough for vans. Access aisles are provided on either side of the van. The parking spaces are designated with proper signage.
Today St. Irenaeus Church is the worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Divine Mercy Parish was founded in 2004. The rectory is at 6667 Chester Avenue. You can call them at 215-727-8300 or 215-727-8301. The fax number is 215-727-5932.
Reverend Quan M. Trinh is the pastor. Deacon Diep T. Nguyen serves as a permanent deacon. Christina Pilling is the Coordinator of Religious Education. John Duffner is the Parish Business Manager. Parish Outreach Staff consists of Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus.
Mass times are Saturdays at 4 PM. Sundays include 8:30 AM Vietnamese Mass and 11 AM Mass. There is also a 9 AM Mass at St. Irenaeus worship site. Vigil Masses for Holydays are at 7:30 PM Vietnamese. Holydays include Masses at 9 AM at St. Irenaeus. There are also masses at 7 PM at the parish church. Weekday masses are Monday through Saturday at 8 AM. First Fridays have masses at 7 PM.
Confessions are on Saturdays from 3 to 3:45 PM. Students attend St. Barnabas Independence Mission School. It is located at 64th St. and Buist Ave. The school phone number is 215-729-3603. Sr. Janet Walters I.H.M. is the School Principal. School Teachers include Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Lay Faculty.
Baptisms are celebrated every second third and fourth Sunday. They take place at 12:00 PM. This is immediately following the 11:00 AM Mass. Parents must meet with Father Quinn before the child is baptized. Call the Rectory Office to make an appointment.
Couples planning to marry should call Father Quinn. This should be done at least six months before the wedding. This allows time to begin preparations. Call the Rectory anytime for emergencies requiring the Sacrament of the Sick. The homebound are visited regularly by Father Quinn. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion also visit them. Call the Rectory if you are hospitalized. Please call if you would like to be anointed before hospitalization.
