The small basement church seated around two hundred people. Its first service was actually held in 1906 in a private home. A lot was then purchased for the church’s construction. However limited funds meant the congregation only built the basement. It served the church for more than eighty years. The church’s history mirrors the evolving demographics of its neighborhood. Initially serving mostly European immigrants.
