In 1924 Bishop Christopher Byrne envisioned a new church to serve Houston’s westward expansion. That vision materialized as Saint Anne Catholic Church. Standing proudly at 2140 Westheimer Road Saint Anne’s has been a spiritual cornerstone since 1925. The Basilian Fathers guided its early years. Their dedication laid the foundation for this thriving parish.

Saint Anne’s wasn’t built overnight. Its history is rich with anecdotes. The first church cost a modest $21000. It was completed in 1929. A later building project in 1938 resulted in the current church. This magnificent structure cost $180000. Generous donations from individuals like George and Susan Strake fueled the church’s growth. Their contributions are a testament to the community’s faith.

Saint Anne Catholic Church is more than just a building. It’s a living community. It’s where generations have celebrated milestones. Baptisms weddings funerals these are all part of the church’s story. Saint Anne Catholic School opened in 1930. It’s provided education for generations of Houston children. The school is a testament to the parish’s commitment to education.

The church has undergone numerous renovations. In 1960 it got air conditioning. A new organ was dedicated in 1981. The parish center opened in 1998. Even a baby was left at the altar in 1972. Such events reflect the church’s role in the lives of its parishioners. Each addition each renovation represents the parish’s enduring spirit.
