In 1928, a baby’s cry echoed through the halls of a new spiritual home. It was the first baptism at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, marking the beginning of a vibrant community. Saint Andrews Episcopal Church officially started its journey in 1933. The Diocese of San Diego was still part of the Diocese of Los Angeles. The church relied on many part-time vicars and missionary priests in its early days. Then in 1946, Reverend J. Stanley Parke became the first full-time rector. The small congregation in Mission Beach quickly outgrew their original space. In 1949, they found a new home. They purchased the current property for a mere $5,000. Tragedy struck in 1961 when a fire devastated the church building. However, the resilient community rallied together. They rebuilt Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in 1963. Since then, it has continued to serve as a spiritual haven for countless individuals. Today, Saint Andrews Episcopal Church welcomes you. Join them for Sunday services at 10:30 am. They offer both in-person and livestreamed options on their Facebook page. Come as you are. Children and pets are welcome. The church prides itself on being a casual and comfortable environment. The service lasts about an hour. Ushers provide service leaflets with scripture readings. Parking is available on the street and in a few spots behind the church.
