What was the purpose of the Merrington Anzac Memorial Peace Chapel at Saint Andrews? During World War 1, Reverend Dr. Ernest Merrington served as Minister at Saint Andrews. He also served as a Chaplain with AIF troops at Egypt, Gallipoli and Europe. The transept within the building honors him and all those who have taken part in conflicts since. The names of 268 men and women are listed on honor boards and plaques in the chapel. A photograph depicts Dr. Merrington conducting a service with the troops at Gallipoli, with the communion vessel he used displayed below it. Anzac Day services and other services of remembrance are conducted in this chapel.
