Imagine a six-foot flood barrier berm, not as a concrete wall, but as a waterfront promenade and play area. This innovative design, incorporating recycled glass and stone columns, protects against rising sea levels and storm surges. The new Ryan Playground will boast natural grass little league and multi-use fields suitable for baseball, softball, soccer, and more. A refurbished street hockey rink, named in honor of Bryan McGonagle, will offer year-round play. Children will delight in the colorful play area, complete with a splash pad and sensory play equipment for different age groups. Community gathering spaces, a fishing spot, and terraced seating will foster connection. Equipment storage, batting cages, a press box, athletic lighting, and shaded dugouts will elevate Ryan Playground to a premier sports destination.
