Ever wondered what it’s like to step into a little piece of Russia, right here in the heart of Dubai? You’re standing before the Russian International School, a fascinating institution with a rich history. The Russian International School opened its doors in 1996. It was originally known as the Dubai Russian School. It was founded by Najibullah Najib and began as a small villa school with a mere 60 students in the Hamriya area. The school has grown significantly since its humble beginnings. In 2009, the Russian International School moved to its current, larger campus in Muhaisnah, a building previously occupied by the European School of Dubai. By 2013, the student population had expanded to around 450 students. Some students even commuted from other emirates, such as Ajman, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain, highlighting the school’s unique appeal. The Russian International School is the only school in Dubai following the Russian curriculum. It’s a unique blend of Russian educational standards with additions to meet UAE Ministry of Education requirements, such as Arabic and Islamic education. The school caters to students from KG1 to Grade 11. In 2016, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) awarded the Russian International School its first “Good” rating. The campus itself is a beautiful sight. The two-story buildings feature Arabic-style architecture. It houses a well-stocked library, donated by the Russian government. There’s also an assembly hall, a sports hall, and a cafeteria. The Russian International School isn’t just about academics. It emphasizes the personal development of each student, fostering a sense of national and cultural identity, particularly for Russian expatriates. The school organizes health trips, competitions, creative affairs, and sports activities, ensuring a well-rounded education. The Russian International School stands as a testament to the strong ties between the UAE and Russia. It provides a unique educational experience. It blends Russian traditions with the vibrant culture of Dubai.
