The Hospital Cup Railway Cup and Cowell Cup trophies also fill their cabinets. Fifteen Hospital Cups sixteen Railway Cups and twelve Cowell Cups showcase their enduring success.
Their story isn’t just about trophies. It’s about people. Eric Nelson’s 1000th game in 2002 at the age of 50 is a testament to dedication. The club’s remarkable seven First Division titles in eleven seasons from 1977 to 1981 speak of a dominant era. The 2005 match against Bolton Wanderers a 10-0 defeat attracted 3288 spectators and sky sports cameras. This fundraising match helped secure a new indoor training facility.
The rivalry with Peel FC runs deep. It’s rooted in the shared maritime history of Port Erin and Peel. Both towns had teams before Rushen United was formed and many players were fishermen. Both towns are also overlooked by towers. Peel has Corrins Folly. Rushen has Milners Tower guarding Port Erin Bay.
