This camp held over 3500 women and children considered enemy aliens. Many were refugees who had already fled persecution in Europe. This camp operated from May 1940 to September 1945. It was the only civilian camp on the island that housed women and children. It is a reminder of the turbulent times that have touched this seemingly peaceful corner of the world.
