Born in Auderghem on December 10 1890 Gustave Jean Leclercq’s life story is inextricably linked to Rue Gustave Jean Leclercq. He worked for the Tramways Bruxellois. He lived with his family on Chaussée de Wavre number 903. His young son was only a year old when Gustave was called to arms. He served as a soldier in the 9th Line Regiment. Gustave never knew his daughter. She was born while he fought at the front. He died a few days after her on February 15 1915 in Oostkerke West Flanders.
