“An old school building” a woman sighed. This is Rue d’Arsonval in Lille. It’s more than just a street. It’s a place where history unfolds. A place where children once learned. Right here on Rue d’Arsonval stood the Florian Moulin Pergaud school. For years it educated generations of Lillois children. It’s a building brimming with memories. Laughter echoes in its hallways. Whispers of past lessons fill the air. But the school’s days are numbered.

The Florian Moulin Pergaud school is moving. In September 2026 it will open in a brand-new building on Rue Abelard. A modern facility awaits the students. It will be equipped with a dedicated sports hall. Energy efficiency will be prioritized. The new school will be climate-change ready. The move is a significant step forward. It offers better learning conditions for the 20 classes of primary and pre-schoolers.

The old school building on Rue d’Arsonval is ageing. It needs significant renovations. The city decided to build a new one. The new school will include a dining hall. Primary school students will enjoy a self-service system. Preschool children will have table service. The new building will even have separate playgrounds for both age groups. A connection between them will allow larger events. The new building will also have outdoor and indoor sports facilities for the students. These facilities will be accessible to local groups after school hours.

The move also brings improvements outside the school walls. The city will make improvements to the area around the new location. Traffic calming measures will be implemented. This includes reducing car traffic and lowering speed limits. The goal is to promote walking cycling and other sustainable transportation methods. A traffic study was already conducted in autumn 2023 by the Lille Metropolis. Rue d’Arsonval will transform. A new chapter awaits this corner of Lille. The future will see it reimagined. A vibrant future full of new stories to tell.
