It’s a living testament to a family’s legacy, a Bordeaux connection, and the enduring allure of Port. Rozès Cellars, established in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1910, carries the spirit of Ostende Rozès. He was a wine merchant who founded the original Rozès House in Bordeaux in 1855. Initially, his focus was marketing Port wine in Bordeaux. However, the exceptional quality of the wine inspired his son, Edmond Rozès, to create the Rozès brand. Edmond moved the operation to Vila Nova de Gaia, launching their own distinct Port wine. Rozès Cellars became part of the Vranken Pommery Monopole Group in 1999, continuing its tradition of excellence. The Rozès family were pioneers. They were among the first Port wine exporters to establish themselves in the Douro Region. This forward-thinking move cemented their place in both the Portuguese and international markets. Edmond Rozès, a true visionary, even designed the distinctive bottle shape. This iconic bottle, with its “old Portuguese” style, a sulfur-wrapped neck, and wax-sealed cork, became synonymous with quality Port wine in the 1930s. Today, Rozès Cellars continues this legacy, meticulously controlling every stage of production. From the vineyards of the Douro Valley to the aging and bottling process, each step is carefully managed. The result is a range of exceptional Port wines that honor the vision of Ostende and Edmond Rozès.
