Approaching the Rotunda do Motociclista, a unique landmark greets us. This roundabout, located at exit 12 of the A4, Porto-Amarante motorway, isn’t just a traffic circle. It’s a tribute to the spirit of motorcycling. The Rotunda do Motociclista was inaugurated on April 1st, 2017. This date, interestingly, was chosen to precede the 30th anniversary of the Moto Clube Vale do Sousa in 2018. The inauguration ceremony was a grand affair. It was attended by Penafiel’s mayor, Antonino de Sousa, the president of the Portuguese Motorcycle Federation, Manuel Marinheiro, and Fernando Gomes, president of the Moto Clube Vale do Sousa. The Rotunda do Motociclista stands as a testament to the passion and camaraderie of the motorcycling community. Numerous motorcyclists, not just from the region, gathered at the Moto Clube Vale do Sousa headquarters to witness the unveiling. The location itself, at the A4’s Penafiel South exit, further solidifies its significance as a meeting point for those traveling on two wheels. The Rotunda do Motociclista is more than a roundabout. It symbolizes the freedom of the open road and the bond shared by those who embrace the thrill of the ride.
