Beneath this very ground where Rosalie Baptist Church stands today, history whispers. In early 1884, believers gathered under a gum tree. They dreamt of a church in Rosalie. That dream quickly turned into reality.

Just months later, in October 1884, a small chapel opened its doors. Regular services began. A Sunday School also commenced. From these humble beginnings, Rosalie Baptist Church has stood firm. It has maintained a faithful witness for over 130 years.

It’s impossible to measure the impact of Rosalie Baptist Church. It has touched countless lives. Many ministers and missionaries were raised here. They were sent out to spread the gospel. God used this local church to enact His plan for Brisbane.

But the church faced challenges. The changing suburb brought decline. Faithful members continued to gather. However dwindling numbers and community disconnection took their toll. Rosalie Baptist Church needed help.

Then, in August 2012, a partnership began. Rosalie Baptist joined forces with City North Baptist. They sought to revitalize the church’s work. Both churches felt God’s leading. They overwhelmingly supported the initiative. City North sent Pastor Joe Khan and a team to inject energy. They provided leadership and teaching.

By God’s grace, the church grew. It re-engaged with the local community. After a few years, City North’s help was no longer needed. Rosalie Baptist Church stood on its own again.

Today, Rosalie Baptist Church thrives. It is thankful for God’s faithfulness over the years. The church extends an invitation. It wants you to experience the love and joy that God is growing here.

Looking at the building, you will notice a two-level modern brick structure. It sits next to an older building. The older building may have been the original church. It seems to still function as a meeting place.

The church now uses the upstairs part of the new building. Inside, it is well-lit and carpeted. You will see 10 to 12 rows of old-style wood carvings. Pews line the room. These may have come from the earlier building.

At the back, a good quality sound console stands ready. A small plain lectern sits in the front. A piano rests to its left.

Rosalie Baptist Church comprises various age groups. It includes diverse ethnic backgrounds. They hold morning and evening worship services each Sunday. Sunday school and adult Bible classes are also available. Women’s fellowship and church fellowship groups meet each Wednesday.

The church also broadcasts a series. It is called A Moment of Your Time. It airs on the Australian Christian television channel. Rosalie Baptist Church participates in local ministries. They work with other Baptist churches in the area.

The pastor, Joe Khan, his wife Becky and their three daughters started working at Rosalie in August 2012. Joe didn’t grow up in a Christian home. He found Christ in his final year of high school. God has used Joe to help others see the beauty. He shows them the forgiveness available in Jesus.

Ben Peacock commenced work as a Pastor at Rosalie Church in January 2019. Ben was raised in Brisbane. He was surrounded by people who love Jesus.

Dave Evans has served as an Elder since 2017. Josh Mays was appointed as an Elder in 2021.

Rosalie Baptist Church is more than just a building. It’s a story of faith, resilience, and community. It’s a testament to God’s enduring presence in Rosalie.
