The Friendship Inn chain was absorbed by Rodeway Inn and Econo Lodge. This move expanded the brand’s reach.
Kevin Bradt led Rodeway Inn in 2005. He reorganized the franchise structure. This was to attract more franchisees. By 2007, Lodging Magazine named Rodeway Inn the fastest-growing chain in the hotel industry. As of 2018, Rodeway Inn remains a part of Choice Hotels International.
The franchise fee structure changed over time. From 1990 to 2005, it was a percentage of revenue. Later, it became an annual fee per room. Investing in a Rodeway Inn franchise requires about $500,000 in liquid capital. Currently, the franchise uses a revenue percentage fee structure. This is similar to its sister brand, Econolodge.
