Robertsham Primary School opened its doors on March 27, 1953. Initially, 270 learners and 12 teachers formed the Robertsham Primary School family. These students transferred from Booysens Central School. Today, over 1000 learners fill the halls. Over 65 staff members dedicate themselves to the school.
Robertsham Primary School has seen many changes. Mr. Jacobson, Mr. Liebenberg, Mr. Booysen and Mr. Nel guided the school. Then Mrs. Sharon Lynch became the first female principal. Also she became the longest-serving leader of Robertsham Primary School.
In 1956, the first concert took place at a local church. Since then, countless performances have graced the Robertsham Primary School stage. Many learners have proudly received awards for their achievements. Robertsham Primary School nurtures talent both in classrooms and on the sports field.
Many successful individuals began their journey at Robertsham Primary School. Four doctors started here. A horse racing commentator learned his craft here. An Idol finalist and a Strictly Come Dancing host walked these halls. A national ballroom dancing champion and the head coach of the Lions rugby team also attended Robbies. Lawyers and chartered accountants began their education here too.
Learners participate in various sports. They represent Robertsham Primary School with pride. The school’s sports field and stage introduced them to their talents.
The school’s inter-house events are legendary. They take place in houses named Limpopo, Vaal, Orange and Tugela. Children experience singing, shotput and softball. They also enjoy drummies, drama and debating.
Visitors and guest speakers often share their experiences. The Traffic Department teaches road safety. Health inspectors ensure the well-being of the buildings and learners. Nurses check the children’s teeth, hearts and overall health. Even the Flying Squad once investigated a burglary here. They were searching for scissors, blankets and missing money.
Arithmetic evolved into mathematics. Craft sessions provided specific tasks for boys. The School Governing Body and education department discussed renovations and additions. These improvements accommodated the growing number of students.
