“Riverside? More like a revitalized dream.” Picture this: Riverside in Atlanta. It is not just a neighborhood. It is a testament to community and growth. Riverside is located on Atlanta’s Upper Westside. It sits comfortably along the Chattahoochee River.

Once, this area was the Spink Estate. James W. Spink owned it. In 1892, Spink started selling lots. This marked the beginning of Riverside. The Atlanta Constitution even noted the buzz. It declared, “Atlanta on the Chattahoochee.” Spink Street still reminds us of this founder.

Elizabeth, Spink’s widow, lived there until her death in 1910. The estate’s remaining lots were sold in 1914. Riverside was officially annexed into Atlanta in 1952.

The River Line streetcar once served Riverside. It ran from 1892 to 1949. The last ride to Riverside was in 1949. The streetcar line ran to the Riverside community.

Riverside is known for its tight-knit community. The neighborhood association keeps everyone involved. Each part of Riverside has a Block Captain. Impressively, the neighborhood has only around 1,300 residents.

Riverside offers lush greenery and mature trees. Most residential areas are peaceful. They experience minimal traffic.

For those commuting, Riverside is ideal. It is close to I-285. It allows easy access to Smyrna and Sandy Springs. Public transportation includes MARTA bus stops. These stops are along Bolton and Hollywood Roads.

Families appreciate the schools. Riverside falls within the same district as parts of west Buckhead. This means access to Bolton Academy. Also Sutton Middle School. And North Atlanta High School.

Riverwalk Atlanta is an ambitious project here. It aims to create parks and trails along the Chattahoochee River. The Hartsfield Incinerator might become part of this project. One day, it might connect to the Atlanta Beltline. Also the Silver Comet Trail.

Public House 28 is a local favorite. Two Riverside businessmen started it. It is family-friendly and dog-friendly.

Spink Collins Park spans 21 acres. It is a heavily wooded lot. A stream runs through it. You can enjoy picnic tables and walking trails.

Real estate in Riverside varies. There are renovated bungalows. Also new Craftsman-style homes. Smaller homes offer affordable options.

Home prices in Riverside have increased. More people recognize the value of living here. In the eight years between 2012 and 2020, the average price of a sold home in Riverside nearly quadrupled.

Today, Riverside stands as a testament to community growth. It blends history with modern living.
