Standing before Rivers Baptist Church, a sense of peace washes over you. This unassuming building, nestled in the heart of Kenmore, holds within its walls a rich history of faith and community. On March 29, 1966, a small group gathered at Brookfield Hall, dreaming of planting a church in Kenmore. Six families, courageous in their vision, took the first steps, meeting in homes before securing a place in the “Upstairs Hall” of the church. The church grew, and in the 1980s, a bold decision was made to expand, signifying a leap of faith for a relatively small congregation at the time. The church flourished, becoming a beacon in the western suburbs, a place of solace, encouragement, and spiritual nourishment. In 2005, guided by divine providence and a commitment to reaching new generations, the congregation purchased a sprawling piece of land in Seventeen Mile Rocks. While a significant move, the heart remained steadfast, seeking to firmly plant themselves in God’s word, spreading the message of Jesus Christ, a message of love and redemption. This mission took hold, and in 2017, after tireless effort, the current campus opened its doors, a testament to the enduring faith and determination of the church. Through the years, this community has seen waves of newcomers, filling their Sunday services and enriching their weekly programs, creating a place where all ages can find belonging and spiritual growth.
