Founded in 1863 as the First Presbyterian Church of East Williamsburgh the Ridgewood Presbyterian Church has a rich history. It wasn’t always in its current location at 59-14 70th Avenue. The church initially served a German-speaking community. Its name and location changed in 1962. It became the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. A significant milestone occurred in 1993. The Ridgewood Presbyterian Church and the St. James United Presbyterian Church merged. This merger created the United Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. The two churches shared the same minister Reverend Boyd Lowry. They also participated in many joint programs. Even today the Ridgewood Presbyterian Church remains a vibrant hub of the community. It offers various ministries including pre-school programs. Sunday school is also provided for children and adults. The church also hosts an older adult center.
