Here at Regis University, stories echo through the halls. Regis University’s tale begins far from here. In 1877, exiled Italian Jesuits founded Las Vegas College in New Mexico.

But destiny called Regis westward. In 1884, they were invited to Denver. Sacred Heart College opened in Morrison. Three years later, the two colleges merged. They moved to this very spot. It became the College of the Sacred Heart.

In 1921, a new identity emerged. The college adopted the name Regis College. This honored Saint John Francis Regis. He was a 17th-century Jesuit. He aided the poor in Southern France. The preparatory section split. It became Regis Jesuit High School. Then in 1991, another change occurred. Regis College transformed into Regis University.

Did you know that rock legends once graced this campus? Jimi Hendrix electrified Regis in 1968. Queen played their first US concert here in 1974.

Regis University embraced expansion. It partnered with the National University of Ireland, Galway. It also collaborated with ITESO in Mexico. Together, they created an online bilingual MBA program.

Michael Sheeran stepped down as president in 2012. John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J., took the helm. In 2023, Salvador Aceves became president. He is the first non-clergyman to hold the role.

Regis University has welcomed esteemed guests. Desmond Tutu spoke here in 1998. He followed Betty Williams and the Dalai Lama. Thirteen Nobel Peace Prize recipients have visited since 1996.

A historic meeting took place here in 1993. Pope John Paul II met President Bill Clinton on this campus. They greeted visitors. They also held a private meeting in Carroll Hall.

Regis University comprises three colleges. Regis College offers traditional undergraduate programs. The Rueckert-Hartman College focuses on health professions. The Anderson College of Business and Computing provides career-focused education.

Service is central to Regis’ mission. The Center for Service Learning connects students with community needs. This embodies the Jesuit ideal of “men and women for others”.

Regis University competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Rangers display their talents in various sports. These include lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and more.

Regis University continues to evolve. It upholds its Jesuit values. It prepares students for lives of purpose and service. Regis stands as a beacon of education in the Rocky Mountain region. It’s a place where history and future intertwine.
