The Redemption Assemblies of God Church, right here in Kumasi, might seem geographically distant from the church’s beginnings, but it’s spiritually interwoven with the Assemblies of God story that began in the 1930s in Ghana’s Northern Region. Missionaries from the Assemblies of God, U.S.A. embarked on a remarkable journey, traveling on horseback to bring their faith to the Gold Coast, now known as Ghana. Imagine these early pioneers, driven by their belief, venturing into the unknown. Their commitment led to the establishment of the first Assemblies of God congregation in Yendi in 1931. It wasn’t an easy endeavor. These dedicated individuals faced harsh conditions and unfamiliar environments. Yet, they persevered, their faith an unwavering guide. They established branches in Tamale and Walewale in 1935 and Bawku in 1937, spreading their message of faith and establishing the roots of the Assemblies of God in Ghana.
