Have you ever looked into the eyes of a red panda? These fascinating creatures are not your typical bears, although they were once considered part of the bear family. At the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, you can get up close and personal with these adorable animals. There are three in total, named Ying, Yang, and Tika. While their origins lie in the Himalayas, the Jerusalem Zoo has become their new home. The zoo’s dedicated team has created a special climbing wall for them, where they can show off their impressive climbing skills. The keepers even hide treats on the wall to make the pandas work for them. Red pandas are mainly active during the cooler hours of the day and at night. They spend most of their time in the trees, avoiding the heat of the day. You might see them grooming themselves in a cat-like fashion, licking their bodies and washing their faces with their paws. They enjoy a diet of bamboo leaves and sprigs. Did you know that red pandas are one of the most endangered species in the world? Because of this, zoos are working hard to protect these gentle creatures and ensure their survival. The red panda exhibit at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo is a must-see for anyone visiting.
