Rancho Park. A tranquil escape nestled within the bustling heart of Los Angeles. Originally part of Westwood, the extension of Olympic Boulevard in 1936 created a division. The residents south of Olympic felt a disconnect, a yearning for their own identity. In the 1930s, they lobbied for separation, and by the post-World War II era, their dream came true. A local real estate broker, Bill Heyler, instrumental in the area’s development, bestowed upon this newfound community the name “Rancho Park.” Heyler’s vision extended beyond just homes. He’s also credited with bringing the Rancho Park Golf Course to the community, which opened its greens in 1947. Today, Rancho Park is a haven for young professionals and families. The neighborhood boasts a median household income that reflects its prosperity. The streets are lined with those distinctive faux 19th-century streetlights, casting a warm glow upon the large deciduous trees that grace the sidewalks. These trees offer a rare spectacle in Los Angeles: the vibrant hues of fall foliage. Beyond the peaceful residential streets lies Pico Boulevard, a vibrant thoroughfare that pulses with the energy of the Westside Pavilion shopping mall and bustling businesses. Yet, even with this proximity to urban activity, Rancho Park retains its suburban charm. The neighborhood is bordered by Sawtelle, West Los Angeles, Cheviot Hills, and Westside Village. Major thoroughfares like Pico, Westwood, Olympic, Sepulveda, and Beverly Glen Boulevards crisscross the area. Overland and Manning Avenues add to the network of streets, connecting residents to the wider city, including nearby Century City and Santa Monica Boulevard.
