Raheny Ward, a burgeoning suburb, was undergoing a transformation, an evolution away from the rural village it used to be. Before the war, you’d see private estates, farms, and laborers’ cottages dotted across its landscape. But now, new housing estates were springing up like mushrooms after a rain, bringing with them schools, churches, and shops to cater to the ever-growing population. Even though it was rapidly developing, Raheny Ward kept its village atmosphere and historical charm, thanks to its well-preserved eighteenth and nineteenth-century houses. You can still spot them today.
