The road up is an adventure in itself. It’s a winding path past rubber plantations and villages. It’s not clearly marked. Look for signs to the Phuket Weather Station or Villa Zolitude. Don’t worry you don’t need a 4×4.

At the top near the military-owned weather station you’ll find the real magic. The views are simply stunning. You can’t get to the very top though. It’s a restricted military area. Armed guards are watching. Please respect their space. No photos of the radar dome.

Radar Hill is also known as Khao Mai Thao Sip Song. It’s about 520 meters above sea level. That’s about 1700 feet. It’s the second highest peak in Phuket. The highest road is certainly here. You can drive almost to the summit.

This spot is perfect for a sunset photo. But driving down in the dark can be tricky. The roads are steep and winding. Take your time. Be careful.
