The bridge’s primary goal is simple. It aimed to ease traffic congestion. It connects the Hi-Tech Park in District 9. It also links Cat Lai Port and Phu My Bridge in District 2. Hiep Phuoc Port in Nha Be district also benefits. The distance from the Hi-Tech Park to Cat Lai Port is almost halved to a mere 8km. Imagine the time and fuel saved.
The Rach Chiec Bridge project cost 871.2 billion VND. That is about 38.7 million USD. Thang Long Construction Corporation, CIENCO 1, and Thang Long Meco formed the contractor consortium.
