TURATH Architecture & Urban Design Consultants along with the Greater Amman Municipality masterminded the transformation. They didn’t just renovate the hangar. They breathed new life into it. The Ra’as Al-Ein Galleria stands proudly next to its older neighbor the hangar. The hangar is a monumental monolithic structure. The gallery however is a vibrant dynamic cube. Its design contrasts with the hangar. Yet it complements it perfectly. It speaks of Amman’s present and its future.
The architects cleverly used claustra hollow concrete blocks. These blocks are a common feature in Ammani architecture. They used them on the gallery’s facade and as semi-transparent screens inside. The blocks soften the concrete’s starkness. They add a unique texture and elegance. Light filters through creating beautiful play of shadows.
