Hidden behind the Hundertwasserhaus lies Quellenpark a tranquil oasis in Bad Soden am Taunus. This isn’t just any park. It’s a place steeped in history a testament to the town’s past as a spa destination.

Quellenpark was completed in 1872 after the town acquired the necessary land. Its centerpiece is the Solbrunnen a natural spring rich in fluoride and carbonic acid. This isn’t just any water. Frankfurt’s city council recognized its value in 1567. They approved its use for salt extraction. For centuries the spring’s salty water flowed to the town’s salt works.

Imagine the scene. Workers toiling away transforming nature’s bounty into a precious commodity. The Solbrunnen wasn’t just for industry though. From 1854 it also served as a spa and drinking fountain. In 1856 they even deepened the well to six meters.

In 1886 the Sodenia-Pavillon was erected over the spring. It stands today as a landmark a beautiful reminder of this town’s history. The Quellenpark also once housed another fountain the Wiesenbrunnen. Built in 1837 it eventually lost its medicinal status. Now only a manhole cover marks its former location.

Today Quellenpark offers a peaceful retreat. Visitors can stroll through its paths admire the Solbrunnen and reflect on the town’s long and fascinating history. The Hundertwasserhaus stands as a vibrant backdrop. It’s a perfect example of how old and new can coexist. This juxtaposition of the modern and the historical is what makes Quellenpark so unique. This is a park with stories woven into its very fabric. It’s a place to relax and contemplate the passage of time. It’s a true treasure in Bad Soden am Taunus. So take your time explore the park. Discover the hidden gems and feel the weight of history all around you.
