Established in 1858, the Queens Reformed Church has witnessed the transformation of Queens Village. This “Old White Church,” as it’s affectionately known, stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and community. The Queens Reformed Church wasn’t always at its current location. It began as the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of Queens. The church’s emblem reflects its guiding principles: “Nisi Dominus Frusta” (Without the Lord all is in vain) and “Eendracht, Maakt, Macht” (Union Makes Strength). These mottos have resonated with the congregation since the church’s inception. Throughout its history, the Queens Reformed Church has celebrated milestones with renovations and improvements. In 1908, a new motor-driven pipe organ was installed, marking its 50th anniversary. The centennial celebration brought complete renovations, including a new pipe organ, lighting, carpeting, and pew cushions. The Parish Hall, designed by Delano & Aldrich, was built in 1927 after selling the original property. Later additions included a gymnasium, an electrified organ, a colonial portico entrance, stained glass windows, and gas heating. The current organ, installed in 1956, is a Wicks Organ Company creation. The church continues to serve its community. You can find the Queens Reformed Church at 94-79 Springfield Boulevard.
