Pushkino sits where the Ucha and Serebryanka Rivers meet. It is located 30 kilometers from Moscow. The village of Pushkino was first documented in 1499. It belonged to Grigory Morkhinin. Pushkino was granted town status in August 1925.

Pushkino serves as the administrative center of Pushkinsky District. It is incorporated within the district as the City of Pushkino. Also, the City of Pushkino is incorporated within Pushkinsky Municipal District as Pushkino Urban Settlement.
