“Safety and efficiency intersect here” someone once said standing on the Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge. This bridge represents an important piece of infrastructure. It promotes community safety. It keeps pedestrians off the busy road.
The Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge stands adjacent to the Private Percy Cash Bridge on Mount Samson Road. It is located in Samford Valley. The Moreton Bay Regional Council awarded the construction of this bridge to Queensland Bridge and Civil.
Locals called for an upgrade to the Private Percy Cash Bridge. This resulted in a dedicated pedestrian and bike bridge across the South Pine River. The new structure cost $4.5 million. The Queensland Government contributed $2.5 million.
The Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge solves a safety issue in Samford. There was only enough room for cars to pass each other on the original bridge. Now pedestrians and bike riders are completely separated from motorists.
This area has become a bike riding mecca in South East Queensland. This project ensures infrastructure keeps pace with demand.
The three-meter-wide pedestrian and bike bridge connects with kilometers of paths. Locals can explore the region by foot or on wheels. People who rely on mobility scooters now have unprecedented accessibility.
The project included the construction of a 3-span concrete pedestrian bridge. It features associated batter protection. There are also concrete paving approaches, retaining walls, drainage and watermain relocation. Lighting enhances safety at night.
Webforge Locker supported the Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge project. They provided pre-engineered barrier systems. The project faced key challenges. Curved concrete pathways and multiple barrier applications posed structural challenges. The fast-paced nature of the project meant there was no time for bespoke pieces. The project was completed in six months.
Webforge Locker provided a selection of pre-engineered barrier systems. These systems were designed with optimal safety in mind. The footbridge features the Monowills Velocity Balustrade with Handrail. The bikeways make use of the Monowills Link Velocity Balustrade and Monowills Link Velocity 3 Rail.
Early consultation allowed the barrier system to be incorporated into the initial design. This reduced installation costs. The systems were manufactured across multiple sites. They were consolidated for delivery from Webforge Locker’s Brisbane plant. This ready-to-assemble format enabled efficient operations on site.
The Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge was ready by January 2022 weather permitting.
This project complements other community infrastructure. It improves safety for everyone. The Private Percy Cash Pedestrian Bridge stands as a testament to community collaboration and progress.
