General Plutarco Elías Calles, representing the President of the Republic, graced the event. The renowned composer Alfonso Esparza Oteo, accompanying the tenor Pedro Vargas on piano, serenaded the attendees. A 200-strong chorus of female students from the “Pablo Livas” school, led by Maestro Armando Villarreal, the composer of “Morenita Mía”, filled the air with the sweet melody of “Linda Michoacana”. The Preraratoria Alvaro Obregon’s architecture stands as a testament to a blend of styles. Eclectic in nature, it leans heavily towards English Gothic, with a touch of Art Deco gracing its interiors. The structure, a marvel of metal and brick, is adorned with prefabricated Gothic elements. Its painted cement finish adds to the building’s unique character. The architects, Manuel Muriel and Antonio Lamosa, laid the first stone on October 4, 1928, marking the beginning of this architectural journey. Now, the Preraratoria Alvaro Obregon proudly serves as Preparatoria 3 of the UANL, carrying its rich history and legacy into the future.
