“Even them will I bring to my holy mountain.” These words from Isaiah resonate deeply here at the Prayer House in San Antonio. This is more than just a building. It is a spiritual home for all people.
The House of Prayer and Evangelism Ministries has a rich history. It proudly serves the San Antonio community. The Prayer House’s mission is clear. It turns hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. It teaches people to look, lean, and lift their hands to Him.
We want to build knowledge here. We seek wisdom and understanding through the Word. We want everyone to know God. We strive to be like God and please God. The Prayer House welcomes worshippers of all ages and backgrounds. It leads them to a deeper love for God.
After planting a Prayer Room in San Antonio, expansion was divinely inspired. The team was called to a new city. This new city was notoriously dark. They asked themselves “What could He not do?” after seeing God’s work in San Antonio.
The team began to envision moving to Los Angeles, California. California’s name means “hot furnace” from its Spanish origin. California is ready to catalyze another great awakening. The Prayer House team believes God has a storyline of redemption for California. God longs to touch nations. He does it through sold-out lovers of Jesus. They are fully surrendered to His call. This land holds another great awakening.
Another Prayer Room is open to all. It serves as a space for corporate worship. It allows for prayer and intercession. It welcomes both church members and the wider city community. Here everyone can encounter Him. You can read the Word. You can journal prayers. Pray quietly or sing. Pray God’s Word back to Him. There are many ways to engage.
The Great Oaks’ prayer meetings follow the “harp & bowl” model. This comes from Revelation 5:8. Elders before God’s throne hold a “harp” and a “bowl of incense”. Worship and prayer flow together. It is like Heaven before God’s Throne. Worship With the Word is a prayer format here. We sing biblical truths. These truths reveal who God is. They show His promises. It is like a “singing Bible study.”
So engage in worship. Sing along. Worship the Lord as the team leads. Sing your own song from your heart. Even if you are not a singer, He loves your voice. The worship team sings phrases from God’s Word. Meditate on the passage. Read it. Write it. Sing it. Pray it.
The Prayer House hopes to keep Jesus at the center. They submit to the Holy Spirit. They prevent distractions. They welcome you to experience the presence of God. May your time here bring you closer to Him. May you leave with a renewed spirit and a joyful heart.
