“A quiet moment of prayer awaits you.” That’s what comes to mind as we approach Prathnalaya. This chapel and liturgical art center offers solace amid Bandra’s vibrant energy.
Prathnalaya stands on the Bandstand Promenade in Bandra West. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Sister Disciples of the Divine Master. The sisters have been in India since 1954. They moved to their Mumbai house on December 8th, 1961. Now, they have branches in 20 Indian cities.
Let’s step inside Prathnalaya. On the ground floor is a store. It sells religious art and products. Vestments, candle stands, and chalices are available. You can also find altar crosses and rosaries. Statues and monstrances are also on display.
Now, let’s ascend the staircase to the first-floor chapel. Notice the serene and calm atmosphere. It’s a perfect place for worship. It is also great for spiritual reflection.
Inside the chapel, admire the altar. It holds a monstrance for Eucharistic Adoration. The PDDM practice perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Round the clock, one sister prays. She prays before Jesus in the Eucharist.
Look toward the ‘Narthex’ end of the chapel. You’ll see religious art. Perhaps these are stations of the cross. They adorn the wall.
Also, observe that PDDM sisters contemplate the works of St. Paul. The open windows of the chapel provide a view. They offer glimpses of the Bandstand Promenade.
Before we leave Prathnalaya, consider the impact of this place. It’s a haven of peace. It’s a center for religious art. Remember the sisters’ dedication to prayer. This chapel reflects their devotion. The Prathnalaya’s phone number is 022 2655 8922. Its residence number is 2642 2437. You will find it at 113, B. J. Road. It is near Ranwar, Bandra West, Mumbai.
Take a moment to reflect on the quiet beauty. Carry its peace with you as we continue our tour.
