What echoes within the walls of Power Hope & Grace Bible Church? Not just hymns and sermons, but the echoes of a young boy’s burgeoning faith. This is the church where Pastor Quintin W. Wingate, born and raised in Detroit, found his calling. He wasn’t always a pastor, a bishop, or a PhD. At the age of 12, within these very walls, he dedicated his life to Christ. Power Hope & Grace Bible Church nurtured his passion, a burning desire for God’s word. He served in countless roles: Sunday school teacher, AV technician, youth minister, choir member, athletic director, usher, youth prayer band member, and even custodian. Power Hope & Grace Bible Church became the bedrock of his spiritual journey. In September 1985, destiny called. Following the passing of the church’s founder, Bishop Bernard R. McCrary, Pastor Wingate took the helm. He transformed Pentecostal House of God into the Power Hope & Grace Bible Church we know today. A year later, he committed fully to his pastoral duties. His dedication led to his ordination as an Elder in 1988 and then District Elder in 1989. He ascended further, becoming Assistant Council Chairman for the Michigan State Council P.C.A.F. Inc., 5th Episcopal District. His influence extended to education, as he helped establish the Midwest Bible College Institute. The year 2003 marked another milestone: his election and ordination as a Bishop within the P. C. A. F. Association, Inc. Power Hope & Grace Bible Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a hub of community outreach, overseen by Pastor Wingate. His leadership extends beyond the pulpit, guiding the PHGBC Executive Board of Directors, Ministers Alliance, Board of Deacons, and Administrative staff, among other ministries. The church’s impact resonates through the PHG Urban Life (Community) Center. Pastor Wingate’s commitment to God, his congregation, and the community has earned him local and state recognition. He embodies the church’s motto, “Where everybody is somebody & Jesus is the reason why!” Beyond his pastoral duties, Pastor Wingate is a scholar, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies, a Master’s degree in Ministry, and a Doctorate in Theology. He even penned a book, “A Review of the Apostolic Faith Movement, And Their Key Doctrines: Are They Biblical?”. His wife, Brenda Fay Wingate, is an integral part of the Power Hope & Grace Bible Church community. She shares her husband’s dedication, serving as a Sunday school teacher and contributing to various departments within the church. They have been married for over three decades and have eight children. Power Hope & Grace Bible Church is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to faith, dedication, and community. It’s a place where a young boy’s passion blossomed into a lifetime of service, echoing through the generations.
