Porto 360

Can you imagine what it felt like to be the first person to see Porto from this viewpoint? The Porto 360 is a unique viewpoint located atop what used to be a magnificent Palacio de Cristal. The Palace was built in 1865, inspired by a similar structure in Hyde Park in London, and was a beautiful structure made of glass and iron. It became a landmark for the city of Porto. It was unfortunately demolished in 1951 but its spirit lives on in the Super Bock Arena that stands on the same spot. But there is more to the story than meets the eye. It was not the weather that did the Palace in, it was the changing nature of the city and the need for a new multipurpose structure. So they built a sports arena, the Pavilion dos Desportos, in its place in 1952. The venue has undergone many transformations since then but it has always held a special place in the hearts of the people of Porto, especially since it was named the Rosa Mota Pavilion, after the famous Portuguese Olympian, in 1991. Today, the venue embraces its past history and the modern times with the Super Bock Arena, and gives you the opportunity to witness the breathtaking 360-degree views of the city from above. Just like the first person to see it, we are here now at the top of the dome, taking in the sights and sounds of Porto. As you gaze upon the cityscape, imagine yourself as the first person to have ever seen it this way and feel the awe and wonder of this magnificent city.
