Willie Mays made his legendary catch during a World Series game. Tragedy also struck. Ray Chapman became the only MLB player to die from an on-field injury during a game here. The stadium’s unique “bathtub” design featured short foul lines and an extremely deep center field. This unusual layout produced many memorable moments.
