Tragedy struck when Carlos Cerutti died in a car accident in 1990. He was only 21. Cerutti was considered one of basketball’s most promising players. The city chose to remember him by renaming this arena in his honor in 1992.

The Polideportivo Carlos Cerutti is more than just a building. It is a multi-sport venue. Basketball reigns supreme here. It is the home court for Atenas. The arena also hosts volleyball and futsal matches. Its versatile space even accommodates artistic and cultural events like concerts.

In 2023, the local government honored Cordobese basketball legends. Names like Marcelo Milanesio, Rubén Magnano, and Fabricio Oberto were given to different sectors of the arena. These tributes ensure their legacy lives on within these walls.
