Agulo is located on the north coast of La Gomera. Its history dates back to September 27 1607. Colonists mainly from Tenerife founded it. The initial settlement faced challenges. The owners abandoned the land given for cultivation after a few years. A definitive settlement began in 1620.

Agulo is divided into two distinct areas. The lower area includes the Lepe neighborhood. The upper area features hamlets like Las Rosas La Palmita Meriga and Cruz de Tierno.

The town center includes El Charco Las Casas and La Montañeta. It showcases typical local architecture. The Church of San Marcos and the Plaza de Leoncio Bento are worth a visit. The landscapes surrounding Agulo are stunning.

Agulo celebrates several festivities throughout the year. These include Santa Rosa de Lima in August. Nuestra Señora de la Merced is celebrated at the end of September.
