Born from two ancient villages Phường Phúc Đồng’s story unfolds before you. Imagine Mai Phúc and Sài Đồng nestled side by side. Their shared history stretches back to the Thang Long-Đông Đô-Hanoi era. Generations witnessed foreign invasions and harsh weather. Yet the people persevered. They built their homes and protected their land.

Phường Phúc Đồng officially emerged in 2003. This new ward was formed from 494.76 hectares of land. It also included 6994 people from the villages of Tân Thuy Mai Phúc and Sài Đồng. An additional 918 people from the Gia Thụy village joined them. Gia Thụy itself partially merged with the district to form its own ward.

Phường Phúc Đồng’s location is strategic. It lies close to Hanoi’s city center. National Highway 5 runs through the ward. This has fueled rapid modernization and economic growth. The ward’s residents are proud of their revolutionary heritage and cultural traditions. Their diverse economy thrives. Political stability and public order are strong. The lives of the residents improve steadily. They trust their local leaders.

Among Phường Phúc Đồng’s historical treasures is the ancient Mai Phúc Temple. Legend speaks of two brothers Lê Xuân Vinh and Luận Nương. They rallied villagers to fight invaders. They ultimately sacrificed themselves for their people. The temple honors their memory. Another important site is Sài Đồng Temple a national heritage site since 1992. It’s believed that the spirit of Linh Lang resides there. Linh Lang was supposedly the son of King Lý Thánh Tông a key figure in the war against the Song dynasty in 1076.

The temple’s courtyard once housed a large field. This land served as a communal space. Sadly much of this surrounding landscape was lost to the construction of Gia Lam Airport. Only a small section near the temple remains.

These landmarks showcase Phường Phúc Đồng’s rich past. The ward’s history is tightly woven into the fabric of Hanoi itself. The stories of resilience and community demonstrate the enduring spirit of its people. As you walk these streets you step through layers of history. You’ll feel the pride and strength of a community that continues to thrive.
