Stepping back in time, let’s journey to Phú Chánh ward in Tân Uyên city, Bình Dương province. Phú Chánh, a relatively young ward, officially came into existence on February 1st, 2020. But its story begins long before this date. Phú Chánh’s roots lie in the former Tân Phú Hiệp commune of Châu Thành district. Imagine the year 1977. Châu Thành district was dissolved, and Tân Phú Hiệp commune became part of Tân Uyên district. This marked a significant shift in Phú Chánh’s administrative journey. Years later, in 1994, Tân Phú Hiệp commune was divided, giving birth to both Phú Chánh commune and Vĩnh Tân commune. Phú Chánh continued to evolve. In 2004, there was a significant adjustment to its boundaries. 545 hectares and 2,287 people from Phú Chánh commune were transferred to the newly established Tân Hiệp commune. After this adjustment, Phú Chánh commune retained 1,718 hectares and a population of 6,407 people. Then, in 2009, another shift occurred. 989 hectares and 3,469 people were transferred to Thủ Dầu Một city. This left Phú Chánh commune with 729 hectares and a population of 3,525. Phú Chánh then transitioned under the administration of the newly established Tân Uyên town in 2013. Finally, in 2020, Phú Chánh commune, with its 7.98 square kilometers and 13,692 residents, transformed into Phú Chánh ward, a part of Tân Uyên city. Today, Phú Chánh is bordered by Vĩnh Tân ward to the north and east, Tân Hiệp ward to the southeast, and Thủ Dầu Một city to the west and south. It covers an area of 7.99 square kilometers and, as of 2021, had a population of 42,430. Phú Chánh is more than just administrative boundaries and population figures. It represents the continuous evolution of a community and its place within the larger tapestry of Bình Dương province.
