Before 2009, Kiến Hưng was a commune. The government decided to create Hà Đông district and Kiến Hưng phường at the same time. This decision marked a new chapter for the area.
Kiến Hưng covers 424.15 hectares. In 2009, 11390 people lived here. That’s about 2685 people per square kilometer. Most residents are Kinh people.

The area has changed over time. In 1949, the Kiến Hưng commune included Hà Trì, Đa Sỹ, and Mậu Lương villages. In 1955, Hà Trì village joined with Cầu Đơ village to form Hà Cầu commune. In 1961, Kiến Hưng became part of Thanh Oai district. Later in 1969, it was merged into Hà Đông town.
Đa Sỹ village is within Kiến Hưng phường. This village is famous for its traditional blacksmithing. The craft has been passed down through generations.
Today, Kiến Hưng continues to evolve. The Kiến Hưng urban area is a notable project. It is located in Kiến Hưng phường. The project covers 47 hectares. It is being developed by Kiến Hưng Urban Development Investment Joint Stock Company.
