Before 1975 Phuoc Kien Commune was a quiet place. A small community nestled beside the Phuoc Kieng River. Phuoc Kien Commune is part of Nha Be District in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s connected to Nhon Duc Commune by a bridge. This bridge a steel structure only two meters wide. It carried motorbikes and pedestrians for decades. Until 2018. That year a truck carrying rocks collapsed the old Long Kieng Bridge. The truck and several motorbikes plunged into the river. Local residents remember the chaos and fear. The old bridge became unsafe. A new bridge was built. It opened in September 2023. The new Long Kieng Bridge is a modern structure. It provides safer passage for commuters. It is 318 meters long with 661 meters of approach roads. Phuoc Kien Commune today benefits from improved transportation. The new bridge facilitates travel and trade. The story of the old Long Kieng Bridge remains a local legend. It is a reminder of both past challenges and present progress in Phuoc Kien Commune. The community today thrives along the banks of the Phuoc Kieng River. It is a testament to resilience and the constant evolution of life in a rapidly changing city.
