Phum Trapeang Chrey. Even the name sounds exotic, doesn’t it? It’s a small village, but it plays a part in the bigger story of Phnom Penh. You see, Phum Trapeang Chrey is nestled within the district of Pou Senchey. Pou Senchey has an interesting past. It was once part of a larger district but was carved out in 2011. It even lost some of its territory to another district, Prek Pnov, in 2013. And as if that wasn’t enough change, a chunk of it went on to become the Khan Kamboul district in 2019. These shifts and changes tell a story of Phnom Penh’s growth and evolution. They give us a glimpse into how this vibrant city manages its expanding population and needs.
