Ever wondered what life is like in a rapidly developing district of Phnom Penh? I’m about to tell you a story about Phum Saen Sok Ti Bei. This is a village within the Khan Sen Sok district. Khan Sen Sok is located in the northwestern part of Phnom Penh. It is known for its fast development and mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas.

Khan Sen Sok didn’t always exist. It was established in 2008-2009. Three sangkats, or communes, were taken from Khan Russey Keo. These were Khmuonh, Phnom Penh Thmei, and Tuek Thla.

In 2010, more areas were added to Khan Sen Sok. These came from Ponhea Lueu District in Kandal Province. By 2013, some of these areas formed a new district, Khan Prek Pnov. At the same time, Krang Thnong from Khan Pou Senchey was added to Sen Sok. Two new sangkats emerged in 2016. Ou Baek K’am was formed from Tuek Thla. Kouk Khleang came from Phnom Penh Thmei.

Phum Saen Sok Ti Bei is located within Khmuonh. Khmuonh is one of the six sangkats that make up Khan Sen Sok today. The others are Phnom Penh Thmei, Tuek Thla, Krang Thnong, Ou Baek K’am, and Kouk Khleang.

Khan Sen Sok has become an extension of the capital. Several Cambodian state-owned buildings have moved here. These include the Departments of Planning, Health, Industry, and Social Affairs. Even the National Bank is here now.

Life in Phum Saen Sok Ti Bei is changing. The area is growing quickly. New businesses and housing are appearing. Khan Sen Sok offers a contrast to downtown Phnom Penh. It is a refreshing escape but still offers access to city amenities.
